This itinerary invites you into the peninsula’s living culture: conversations with locals, market lunches, swims in sacred cenotes, and slow evenings where the air smells of lime and charcoal.

🌞 Day-by-Day Journey
Day 1 – Salt Air & Soft Landing: Arrive Cancún → Isla Mujeres
Land in Cancún, withdraw pesos, pick up your rental car and park at the ferry terminal lot. Hop the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Check into a small guesthouse near Playa Norte. Sunset toes-in-sand and an early night.
Day 2 – Coast & Connection: Isla Mujeres
Swim the calm shallows of Playa Norte, then wander side streets for tacos al pastor and fresh fruit licuados. Optional snorkel trip or golf cart loop to the southern cliffs for wide Caribbean views. Sunset picnic on the beach.
Day 3 – Markets & Beach Walks: Isla Mujeres → Playa del Carmen (~1.5–2 hrs including ferry)
Ferry back, retrieve car, and drive south to Playa. Walk Quinta Avenida’s lively stretch, then duck into local mercados for lunch. Afternoon beach time; evening gelato and a seaside stroll.
Day 4 – Water & Wonder: Cenote Day → Tulum (~1–1.5 hrs driving)
En route to Tulum, stop at a pair of cenotes (choose open and cavern styles). Rinse before entering; use reef‑safe sunscreen only. Float, listen, and let the stone‑cooled water reset you. Arrive in Tulum before dusk.
Day 5 – History by the Sea: Tulum
Arrive at the Tulum ruins early for ocean‑cliff views and a quieter experience. Beach afternoon at a public access cove. Optional bike ride between town and beach for café stops and handmade souvenirs.
Day 6 – Ancient Marvels: Tulum → Chichén Itzá → Mérida (~2–2.5 hrs + 1.5–2 hrs)
Leave at dawn for Chichén Itzá to beat heat and crowds. Walk slowly; notice serpent motifs and stone acoustics. Cool off at a nearby cenote after lunch, then continue to Mérida for golden‑hour plaza time.
Day 7 – Cultural Immersion: Mérida
Begin at Plaza Grande: cathedral bells, colonnades, and guayabera shops. Explore museums, artisan markets, and try cochinita pibil with pickled onion. Evening trova music and marquesitas in the square.
Day 8 – Hidden Yucatán: Mérida Day Trip Options
Choose one: (A) Cenote ring near Cuzamá (human‑powered carts to multiple crystalline pools) or (B) Hacienda visit with lunch and a leisurely swim. Return to Mérida for twilight in leafy Santa Lucía.
Day 9 – Final Swim & Farewell: Mérida → Valladolid (optional) → Riviera (~3–4 hrs total)
Drive east. Optional lunch and short cenote stop near Valladolid. Continue to the coast (Playa/Tulum area) for a last turquoise swim and a simple seafood dinner on the sand.
Day 10 – Carry It Home: Riviera → Cancún (1.5–2 hrs)
Sunrise shoreline walk, coffee, and a final journal line. Drive to Cancún airport, allow time for rental return and security. Depart with salt‑soft hair and a full heart.
