Avocado Hummus

Avocados and hummus are two family favorites at our house. So, it came as no surprise that combining them to make our amazing avocado hummus was a huge success with the kiddos.⁠

Hummus is such an easy meal to make as long as you have the right ingredients. With so many variations of the dish, we love exploring new ideas with one of the worlds most infamous dishes dating back to at least the 13th century. ⁠

The three main ingredients of almost any hummus are: chickpeas (garbanzo beans), tahini (sesame paste), and garlic. Add in some of your favorite spices and some avocados and you got yourself some tasty avocado hummus.⁠


  • 3 C chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

  • 4 avocados

  • 3 T tahini (a sesame paste made by cooking sesame seeds in oil)

  • 1/4 C olive oil

  • 2 T garlic powder

  • 1 t salt

  • 1/8 t pepper

  • 1/8 t cumin

  • 1 T cilantro (fresh or dried)


  • Combine all ingredients in blender

  • Blend on high for 3-5 minutes (or until desired consistency)

  • Spoon out and Enjoy!
